Luck of the Irish

Our Chief pointed out that we really are meeting the day after St. Patrick's Day. Last month, we had talked about going the Jim Beam Rye route this month as it's price is quite affordable and wouldn't be an enourmous, cliff like drop into the abyss of horrible whiskeys from the Lagavulin.

But I need to ask, should we be looking for a comparable Irish whiskey for the month? Is the Jim Beam set in everyone's heart? How bad could Jameson really be? Has the beauty of the sweet, sweet nectar that is Lagavulin drifter far enough from our short term memory? Thoughts? Jokes? Gassy expletives?

  1. We must have an Irish whiskey this month. It is tradition.

  2. I think any whiskey can be died green to meet the theme of St. Patrick's Day... Right?

  3. That's what I thought. Jim Beam is a bit more Kentucky bourbon than Irish whiskey. It is the day after too. Close enough for government work.

  4. Well, Chris, there's a rich tradition of making whiskey in Ireland too. Some are ever super cheap and extra nasty and other can be quite good, even without the green food coloring.

  5. How about Jim Beam Rye and a keg of Guinness. Then we've met the spirit of the day...

  6. All poor attempts at humor aside... I think a Irish whiskey is a good idea. I have the 2010 Whisky Bible. I can look through it for some suggestions if you want.

  7. I think we should still stick to a moderately priced Whiskey though.

  8. A moderately priced Irish would rock. A say go forth and research in the Whiskey Bible and while you are at it, tell me where you got said book...

  10. Jameson is always good, and not high priced. Actually it's my favorite Irish. If you like whiskey in general, there's virtually no chance of not liking Jameson.
