The Single Oak Project

Came across this link to a story about an interesting project from the Buffalo Trace distillery, called the Single Oak Project, where they selected 96 trees from the same forest and had barrels made from them, and then treated the wood in various controlled ways to determine how it would affect the bourbon aged in them. The first batch was released this month, with the rest scheduled to be released every quarter over the next 4 years. Every bottle is labeled with the barrel it came from and you can log on to their website, SingleOakProject.com, and give your critique of each bottle you try.

  1. That actually looks pretty cool. I signed up for it. I might just go looking for a bottle this weekend.
